Walter Blair Obituary, Walter Blair Has Sadly Passed Away – Death

Walter Blair Death, Obituary – The news of Walter Blair’s passing, which took place on Friday in St. Andrews, is sure to bring grief to a good number of these people. Walter was a well-known figure across the community due to his roles as the conductor of the Helensburgh Oratorio choir and organist of Old & St. Andrews Church, which eventually became the West Kirk.

After 50 years of service, he took his retirement from the kirk in 2014. His previous position was as Head of Music at the specialised music school located within Douglas Academy in Milngavie. He then moved on to become the head of the Junior Conservatoire located within RCS in Glasgow. He was a fantastic musical educator.

Since Walter had been sick for a considerable amount of time, our sympathies are with his wife, Sheila, and all of their surviving relatives.
e is going to be sorely missed. It was owing to him that I was able to become a professional musician and a music teacher, as he was my music teacher when I attended Douglas Academy, which was before it became a dedicated music school.

Between the years 1977 and 1979, we were both his pupils at Douglas Academy, where he was taught by Walter (Mr. Blair), and he persuaded me to become a member of the HOC for a while. He was a remarkable individual, and a significant portion of what I accomplish in music now may be attributed to him. To his family, friends, and everyone at HOC, please accept my deepest sympathies. RIP Walter Blair.
