His life was taken from him in a senseless accident. In case you were curious, the funeral for Walter was held the day prior in Key West, Florida. You are not going to be overlooked at any point in time. Walter Batson. After a brief struggle with illness, Walter A. Batson, age 82, of Demorest, Georgia, a veteran of the United States Air Force who served during World War II, and a teacher at Demorest Elementary School for 27 years prior to his retirement, passed away on September 13, 2000 at the Lanier Park Hospital. Batson was a local of the city of Demorest in the state of Georgia. Before taking early retirement, he had spent the last 27 years instructing students at the Demorest Elementary School. He considered the city of Demorest to be his permanent residence. On the evening of Thursday, September 14, 2000, from seven to nine o’clock in the evening, a visitation will be held for family and friends at the North Chapel of the Whitfield Funeral Home in Demorest, Georgia, which can be found at 245 Highway 441 South. The visitation will be held on the same day as the funeral service. The funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 15, and the body will lay in state at New Hope Baptist Church beginning at 10:30 a.m. on that day.

The viewing will continue until the start of the ceremonies. During the funeral rituals that are planned to take place, the Reverend Hoyt Skelton will preside over the congregation as the minister in charge. The funeral and interment will take place in the church’s own cemetery when it comes time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to a charitable organization of the donor’s choosing will also be appreciated. These donations can be made at the funeral home.
