Virginia Adye Death, Obituary – At the age of 94, Virginia Byrne Adye, who resided in Evansville, Indiana, passed away at Good Samaritan Home on Saturday, January 21, 2023. On September 19, 1928, she was born to her parents, Claude and Idah Byrne, in a rural area of Spencer County in the state of Indiana. Virginia spent her entire life working as a music educator.
Since 1950, she has been a part of the Methodist Temple, and she has also been involved in a wide range of other community organizations, such as the American Association of University Women, the Evansville Musicians Club, and the Sigma Alpha Iota music sorority. Additionally, she has been a docent at the Evansville Museum.
She earned degrees in music education from both Evansville College and Indiana University and spent the 1950s working as a music teacher in the public schools of Newburgh and Evansville. On the other hand, she devoted the better part of her life, which spanned more than three quarters of a century, to teaching hundreds of individual piano students her passion for music.
Long after her death, the wisdom, life lessons, and love of music that she passed on to successive generations of children and teenagers in the tri-state area will continue to have an impact. Her parents, her brothers Jay (who passed away in 1920) and Doris (who passed away in 1945), and her husband Arthur Robert Adye all passed away before her (d.2004). Virginia is survived by her son Arthur, Jr. (Candace), her grandson Arthur III (Leandra), and her great grandsons Miles and Ellis Adye, all of whom reside in Evansville. Virginia is also survived by her nephews Dr. Bruce Adye and Eric Spurrier, as well as her nieces Tammy Adams, Terri Chancellor, and Jamie Smith.
