Verna Fischer Death, Obituary – LaVerna Evelyn Fischer passed away on February 2, 2023 at the Cambridge Senior Living facility in Rice Lake. She was 97 years old at the time of her passing and was originally from the town of Cumberland. On November 12th, 1925, LaVerna Becker made her debut into the world in Cumberland, Wisconsin. Her father was Fred Becker, and her mother was Aline (Horstman) Becker.
She had lived in the Bestlerton Community her entire life and received her education at the community’s primary institution. LaVerna Evelyn Fischer, who was 97 years old and originally from Cumberland, passed away on February 2, 2023 at the Cambridge Senior Living facility in Rice Lake. LaVerna Becker was born in Cumberland, Wisconsin on November 12, 1925. Her parents were Fred and Aline (Horstman) Becker.
She was a lifelong resident of the Bestlerton Community and graduated from the local school. She received her high school diploma from Cumberland in the year 1943. She began her career by working at Burtons Ben Franklin in Cumberland for a period of two years before moving on to Concordia Teachers College in River Forest to further her career. On December 8, 1946, LaVerna wed Alfred Fischer and the two began their lives together.
They worked on the family farm as a team and shared the same means of subsistence. She continued to be an active member at St. Paul Lutheran and served as the leader of the local 4-H club in addition to her work on the farm. Not only did she take pleasure in gardening and preserving food through canning, but she also prepared the most delicious holiday feasts, which her children and grandchildren would miss immensely.
she is survived by her daughter, Helen Nowaskey, who resides in Cumberland; her son, Mark Fischer, who is married to Vickie and also resides in Cumberland; her grandchildren, Dan Nowaskey and his wife Laura, Jenna Nowaskey, Stacie Fischer and her husband Brian Nelson, Ryan Fischer and his wife Allie, Brandon Fischer and his wife Brooke Blechinger, and Brent Fischer; and her great-grandchildren, Parker, Grady, Leah, Her husband, Alfred, as well as her son,.
Robert Fischer, her parents, Fred and Aline Becker, and her sister, Lois Sorensen, all passed away before LaVerna did. St. Paul Lutheran Church in Cumberland, Wisconsin will be the location of the funeral services to be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at 11 AM, with Pastor Miels officiating. Visitation will take place in the church one hour earlier. Interment Lakeside Cemetery, Cumberland, WI. After that will be lunch. The family is being cared for by the Skinner Funeral Home in Cumberland.
