Sarah Levey Obituary, Death – Sarah Elisabeth Levey, age 45, of Honolulu, Hawaii, formerly of Elsie, passed suddenly on Monday, January 31, 2023, at her home in Honolulu, where she resided with her husband and soul mate, Dameon “Jon” Ricketts. Her passing was unexpected at the residence she shared with her husband.
On May 4th, 1977, Bruce and Dawn Levey welcomed their daughter Sarah into the world in Carson City, Michigan. Sarah is their only child. Sarah received her high school diploma from Ovid-Elsie in 1995 and her associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies from Lansing Community College in 1997.
Sarah worked in the legal field after receiving her degrees. At the beginning of 2014, Sarah received her level I sommelier certification (wine specialist). She was a student at the University of Arizona, where she was majoring in forensic anthropology at the time. She worked in and managed a variety of establishments, including wineries, bars, and restaurants with upscale cuisine. Sarah was known for her warm smile, her wealth of knowledge, and her genuine compassion for everybody she met.
Sarah spent her life on her own terms and moved about to several places in Virginia and Arizona, including Tucson. She also lived in Virginia. And in 2013, she met the man who would become the love of her life, Damon “Jon” Ricketts; the two of them went on to live in Norfolk, Virginia; Washington, District of Columbia; Southampton, New York; Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Honolulu, Hawaii respectively.
And when hurricanes struck, did Sarah flee as was suggested? The answer is “no,” and instead she went to a party themed on hurricanes. Both she and Jon were free spirits who took life by the horns and did things on the wild side. Sarah delighted in activities such as backpacking, running, reading, traveling, and recounting her experiences to others. She found immense happiness in the time she spent with Jon, in simply living her life, and in making plans for their future together.
Sarah also had a special connection with her family, with whom she frequently shared tales of her travels and imparted advice on how to make the most of each day. Her brother, sister, sister-in-law, and the nieces and nephews she was related to through her sister held a particular place in her heart. She is survived by her husband, Damon “Jon” Ricketts; her parents, Bruce, and Dawn Levey; her sister, Mary McKern; her brother, Eric (Stephanie) Levey; her nieces Kayla Levey and Danica Levey; her nephews Walker Levey, Kaden McKern, Matthew Levey, and Caleb Levey; her grandmother, Edith Reeves; and a number of aunts and uncles Her great-grandparents, Dale and Elisabeth Levey, as well as her grandfather, Dale Reeves, and her aunt, Violet Levey-Papenfuss, all passed away before she was born.
