Rick Bailey Obituary, Death – Rick Bailey was finally able to claim his reward in Heaven on the Saturday, September 24, 2022. A kind and compassionate husband, father, brother, and friend has been taken from our earth. Rick’s birthday is April 25th, and he has spent his entire life in the Holly Springs community, which is located in Cherokee County. He received salvation while kneeling at the altar in the New Light Church, and he afterwards got baptized in a river. When Rick was a youngster, he had a deep commitment to his religious beliefs, and he would often deliver brief sermons. Bible studies were one of Rick’s favorite activities at the Canton First United Methodist Church, where he was an active member.
Holly Springs Elementary, Cherokee High School, and Reinhardt University are all places where Rick earned his diploma. During his time at Cherokee High School, Rick’s classmates voted him Homecoming King and chose him as their favorite student overall. It was his favorite sport, and he was given the nickname “Chick” due to the fact that he handled the ball in a manner similar to that of John Havlicek.
At a celebration for the Fourth of July when Rick was only fourteen years old, he met the woman who would become the love of his life, Linda. They were successful in producing four beautiful girls while simultaneously filling their home with love. Rick and Linda lived a life straight out of a storybook and were married for almost half a century. In 1978, Rick started his career in the insurance industry as a health and life insurance agent, and in 1984, he established his own firm, Rick Bailey & Company. Following their graduation from college, his daughters both joined the agency.
Rick is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP), a Licensed Insurance Counselor (LIC), a Licensed Real Estate Broker (REBC), and a Certified Agriculture Specialist (CSA). Rick has served in a number of leadership capacities within the business, including those of Regional Vice President for NAHU, President of GAHU, and President of AAHU. Rick, in his capacity as Chair of the PAC, made a trip to Washington, DC, where he met with members of Congress to discuss issues that affect both insurance agents and customers. Rick was a member of the ACA Advisory Boards that were led by Governor Deal and Commissioner Hudgens.
Rick was recognized for his significant contributions to the insurance industry and was presented with a number of honors as a result, including the Georgia Health Underwriter of the Year award, the Atlanta Health Underwriter of the Year award, and the National Distinguished Service Award. In recognition of Rick’s contributions to the organization, the “Rick Bailey Membership Award” was established.
Rick valued human relationships more than anything else. He had excellent listening skills and provided sound counsel. He advised you to “Enjoy Today” and to “learn something new each day.” Rick was a fan of classic television shows and movies like “Hoosiers” that centered on athletics. He had a passion for fast cars and loud music, particularly tunes that brought him back to happy times in his life.
People who have known Rick have said that he is kind, patient, committed, caring, and encouraging. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing him will grieve his passing greatly. Funeral services will be held in the Canton First United Methodist Church on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Steve Brown officiating the ceremony. After the service, the burial will take place at Cherokee Memorial Park.
