Oswald Gomis Obituary, Former Chancellor University Of Colombo Has Died – Death

Oswald Gomis Death, Obituary – His Eminence the Most Venerable Sir Dr. Oswald Gomis was born on the 12th of December 1932 in Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. He received his primary education at St. Benedict’s College in Colombo and St. Paul’s School in Waragoda prior to continuing his collegiate studies at St. Joseph’s College in Colombo. Dr. Oswald Gomis is a well-known and respected physician in Sri Lanka.

After finishing his studies in theology at the National Seminary in Kandy, he went on to acquire a Master of Arts in Education from Adamson University in the Philippines. He is currently working as a teacher. His Grace was a revered religious leader and a recognized person in the community. He was known for his remarkable leadership skills as well as his unrelenting dedication to addressing the needs of other people.

Throughout the course of his career, His Grace served in a number of important roles, including those of Auxiliary Bishop of Colombo, Bishop of Anuradhapura, and Archbishop of Colombo. In the year 2001, he was given the position of Chancellor of the Archdiocese, which he fulfilled with distinction up to his retirement in year 2021, at which point he was given the title of Emeritus Archbishop.

Through his writings and his participation in a wide variety of charitable activities, His Grace had a profound impact on the lives of a huge number of people. He was a kind and wise man. As a leader who never put his own wants first and who was a genuine service to the people, he will be remembered as someone who always put the requirements of others ahead of his own. His Grace the Most Reverend Dr. Oswald Gomis will be sorely missed, but all of those who had the privilege of knowing him will carry his legacy with them forever in their hearts and memories. May God grant him eternal rest
