Joanne Thorkelson Obituary, Resident of Pulaski, Wisconsin has Died – Death

Joanne Thorkelson Death, Obituary – Joanne Clare (Jarock) Thorkelson, age 79, originally of Pulaski, Wisconsin, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2022, at Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation in Fond du Lac. She was a resident of Fond du Lac. Pulaski, Pennsylvania was the location of the birth on June 6, 1943 of the daughter of Edward and Isabelle (Swiekatowski) Jaroch. Joanne spent her childhood in Pulaski, and she received her high school diploma from Pulaski High School in 1961. She began her post-secondary education at St. Norbert College and continued it at the University of Northern Iowa, where she earned a Master of Arts degree.

Between the years 1965 and 1968, Joanne was a member of the Mishicot High School faculty as a teacher of French and English. After that, she became a teacher and worked at B.F. Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, where she remained until her retirement in the year 2000. Joanne took pleasure in tending to her garden, going for walks, and chatting with her neighbors. She had a deep and abiding affection for her pets, and she was an avid traveler.

Her siblings, Judy Larscheid, Leonard (Kathryn) Jarock, Richard (Joann) Jarock, Paula (Louie) Raska, and Vicki Marotz, are among the people who are still alive today. She was predeceased by her siblings: a sister, Mary Lou (Robert) Woodke; a brother, Norman (Clarice) Jarock; a brother-in-law, Merle Larscheid; and a nephew, Larry Woodke. Her parents, Edward and Isabelle, were the first members of her immediate family to pass away.

On Wednesday, January 4, from 9 to 11 a.m., attendees from the community are cordially welcomed to join the family at the Assumption B.V.M. Church located at 119 E. Pulaski Street in Pulaski. The Funeral Mass will be conducted at 11 o’clock in the morning, and Father James Esser, O.F.M. will preside over the ceremony. The burial will take place in the spring in the cemetery belonging to the local parish.
