Jane Baggett Death, Obituary – At the age of ninety, Jane Grace (Wright) Baggett, who resided in Evansville, Indiana, passed away at Deaconess Midtown Hospital on Wednesday, January 18, 2023. On August 20, 1932, Jane Wright was born in St. Louis, Missouri, to the late Cecil Wright and Pearl (McReynolds). Her parents have since passed away. She received her diploma from Central High School in the year 1950.
After 21 years of service, Jane retired from her position as an instructor at Ivy Tech Community College in 1998. She had previously worked for Bucyrus-Erie. She was a devoted member of the St. Lucas United Church of Christ, where she participated in a wide variety of evangelism-related activities. Volunteering her time at United Caring Shelters, St. Paul’s Lutheran food bank, and Deaconess Hospital as a Pink Lady was something that Jane did out of the goodness of her heart.
Reading, playing cards, shopping, and going on vacation were some of her favorite activities, and she was a member of the Deaconess Auxiliary. Above all else, Jane treasured the time she could spend with her family, particularly with her grandchildren. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister in addition to being a grandmother herself. Jane is survived by her daughter, Kathy Spicer; son, Michael Eakins; step-sons, Donald Baggett and Lyndell Baggett, Jr.; twin sister, Joan Kastner (Gerald); nine grandchildren, all of whom were her favorites; three great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews; and by her cherished dog, Emma.
The people who passed away before Jane were her parents, her brother, Robert Wright, her husband of 32 years, Lyndell “Ray” Baggett, Sr., her son, Gary Eakins, her son-in-law, Gary Spicer, and her son-in-son, law’s Gary Spicer. On Monday, January 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., there will be a celebration of Jane’s life held at the Browning Funeral Home, which is located at 738 Diamond Ave., Evansville, Indiana 47711.
