James Smiley Obituary, Death – James H. Smiley, who lived in Hanover and passed away on April 17, 2021, at the age of 86, passed away quietly at the UPMC Pinnacle in Hanover. Barbara Smiley of Hanover, who had been married to him her entire life, considered herself to be extraordinarily blessed to have such a devoted husband. Before he was born on June 22, 1934 in Mt. Crawford, Virginia, both of his parents had passed away from previous illnesses. His mother went by the surname Maubary after her maiden name, and his father went by the name James M. Smiley.
James was a loving husband and father; in addition to being a member of the American Legion, one of his hobbies was fishing, and he had a soft spot in his heart for all kinds of animals. He was a huge animal lover and would feed the birds and squirrels that lived on his land. He was a fan of all different kinds of wild animals. James is survived by a number of daughters, including Amy Smith and her husband Robert of Pell City, AL; two sisters, Pat Miller and Reba Sanders; a brother, Ray Smiley; as well as several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. James also leaves behind a number of great-grandchildren and several grandchildren. In 2004, James was taken from us. James’s wife is also still alive despite the fact that she was married to him before he passed away.
On the morning of Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at nine o’clock in the morning, a memorial service commemorating the life of James will be held at the Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory in Hanover, Pennsylvania. The service will be held in his honor. In the city of Hanover, in the state of Pennsylvania, the funeral home and crematory may be found at 549 Carlisle Street. Pastor Matt Miller is going to preside over the event that is going to take place. When the body is finally laid to rest, there will be a ceremony, but it will be a private one.
