Helena Dearborn Death, Obituary – Helena “Ellie” Dearborn, age 24 and previously of Davenport, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at her home in Newton, Iowa. Her death was unexpected. St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Davenport, Iowa will be the location of the funeral services that will be place on Saturday, February 4, 2023. The Weerts Funeral Home will be open for visitation on the evening of Friday, February 3, 2023, from 4 pm to 8 pm.
After the service, the funeral procession will proceed to Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery for the burial.
Donations in memory of Ellie may be made in her honor to the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church or to an opioid awareness foundation of your choosing. In the year 1998, on February 28th, Ellie was born in Davenport, Iowa. She graduated from Davenport West High School in 2016 and received her diploma.
Ellie worked for the Newton Community School District at the time of our conversation. Prior to that, she worked both as a waitress at Catfish Charlies and as a Para educator at the Senior High School for the Dubuque Community School District. She worked as a Para educator for the Davenport Community School District, HyVee on Locust Street, and Harris Pizza while she was residing in Davenport.
Ellie had a great time hanging out with her boyfriend Antwan Slaughter from Newton, Iowa, as well as Antwan’s sons Isaiah, Moses, and Cash, as well as his nephew Darien. Whenever they had a sporting event, you could find her clapping and cheering them on from the sidelines. Both she and her father were devoted fans of the Bulls and the Dolphins.
Ellie always had a passion for dancing, and she was a student at Danceworks for a total of 12 years. Baseball and basketball were two of her other favorite sports to play. Winnie, Ellie’s Shih-Tzu, was Ellie’s fur baby, and she adored her. Ellie’s two closest friends and partners in crime, Claudia and Meghan, were inseparable for the better part of their life. Ellie cherished the time she got to spend with them.
