Harvey Abel Death, Obituary – Harvey Bryan Abel, who had lived most of his life in Yazoo City, Mississippi, and was 87 years old at the time of his death on February 3, 2023, passed away at his home in Yazoo County. Throughout his entire life, he was a resident of Yazoo County.

A substantial portion of Mr. Abel’s adult life was spent serving as the Minister of the Baptist church, where he was a member. His family includes his wife, Mary Lee Abel, of Yazoo City; sons Harvey Bryan Abel, Jr. of New Albany and John Abel of Flora, Mississippi; daughters Marilyn Thames of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Nona Marie Warren of Pearl, Mississippi, and Melissa Eldridge of Vicksburg, Mississippi; step-daughter, Debbie Howard of Belzoni, Mississippi; step-son, Bubba Hawkins of Belzoni, Mississippi; 21 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 6 great

Mrs. Abel, whose maiden name was Travie Abel, had already passed away while her husband was still among the living when they were married. Funeral services for Mr. Abel will be held at the Stricklin-King Funeral Home in Stricklin on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, beginning at ten o’clock in the morning.

Mr. Abel passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2023. Visitors will be able to pay their condolences at the funeral home on the evening of Monday, February 6, 2023, beginning at seven o’clock in the evening and continuing on until nine o’clock that night. The funeral and interment will take place in the Grenada, Mississippi location of the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery at one o’clock in the afternoon. Robert Greer, who is not formally recognized as a pastor, will act as the officiant for the event despite the fact that it is being held in a church.
