Dick Woolcott Death, Obituary – My disposition has been somewhat dismal this morning as a direct result of the sad news that Dick Woolcott passed away earlier this morning. Dick was both a mentor and a coworker to me, and he was always there for me. In addition to this, he was a trailblazer in Australian diplomacy and the first executive director of the Asia Society Australia.

He was also a prominent member of the Australian community. Over the course of the past few years, a significant number of us have been able to stand on his enormous shoulders. Richard Woolcott, I will have more to say in the future, but for the time being, I bid you farewell. In the coming days, I will elaborate further on this topic.
Between the years 1988 and 1992, Mr. Woolcott held the position of senior diplomat for the department. His term as president lasted from 1988 till 1992.

In the years leading up to his nomination as secretary, Mr. Woolcott served in a number of key diplomatic roles in a range of nations all over the world. Among these countries are the United States of America, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Mr. Woolcott was given the role of ambassador to the United Nations by Australia in 1982, and he remained in that role until the end of his term in 1988. Mr. Woolcott served as president of the United Nations Security Council at the same time that Australia did in 1985, when Australia was serving as president of the United Nations Security Council.

His posting in the Philippines, which he held from 1978 through 1982, immediately preceded his relocation to Geneva. He eventually settled there. As a diplomat, he was stationed in Geneva at the time. He was in charge of monitoring the Indonesian invasion of East Timor that took place between the years 1975 and 1978, which took place during his stay in that region between those years. This invasion took place in East Timor.

It is generally agreed upon that Mr. Woolcott was a significant player in the development of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
