Dede Schaffner Death, Obituary – The news that Dede Schaffner, a long-time board member for The Foundation for Seminole County Public Schools, had died away has struck all of us with a profound sense of loss. Dede Schaffner was a member of the board for many years. Dede has been a member of the board for a good number of years. The news of her departure has left the entire community in a state of mourning, and during this difficult time, her family is at the forefront of all of our thoughts and prayers.

Dede was an ardent person who was full of life and devoted to serving the community in which she lived. She was a person who could not sit still for very long. She was the kind of person who couldn’t stay motionless for more than a few minutes at a time. Due to the fact that Dede is a member of the boards of directors of a variety of different civic and humanitarian groups, it is impossible to accurately evaluate the scope of her influence.

She was always the first person to step up, provide a help, and be the one to carry the torch. She was always the one to take the initiative. Throughout the course of her work in the public sector, she made an indelible mark on our community, particularly in the areas of education and youth services. She had a big influence on the kids of the Seminole County Public Schools because she was particularly devoted to them and because she made a positive difference in their lives.

She joined The Foundation as one of its first members in 1987, and ever since then, she has participated in each and every one of the organization’s programs, including Arts Alive, Tools for Seminole Schools, Grants for Great Ideas, Scholarships, Midway Safe Harbor, and the Physics Bus. She was also one of the founding members of The Foundation. Additionally, she was an original member of The Foundation when it was first established.
