Adolfo Cruz Death, Obituary – The Merced County Sheriff Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was shot and killed by a deputy as 37-year-old Adolfo Cruz, according to Cop Alexandra Britton. Cruz’s death was caused by a deputy’s gunshot. It is believed that Cruz was holding a child hostage when the deputy opened fire, resulting in Cruz’s death.

On January 13, 2019, the authorities stated that deputies were summoned to a domestic conflict that took place at an apartment complex located in the 8800 block of Globe Avenue in Dos Palos. The incident took place at approximately 11:44 a.m. When deputies arrived at the scene, they were able to locate the suspect who was suspected of trying to ignite a fire at an apartment complex.

Britton stated that it appeared as though Cruz had been living at the address for a number of years already. The authorities said that Cruz had a knife on him while he was holding the child captive inside the apartment, and they saw him carrying it. According to Britton, deputies were able to enter the building, and as they reached the top floor, Cruz was ultimately shot and killed by law authorities.

At this moment, the Merced County Sheriff’s Office and the Merced County District Attorney’s Office are both continuing their respective investigations into the event. The identification of the deputy who was involved in the shooting has not been disclosed by the Sheriff’s Office to the general public at this time.
